Her first professional gig was in the world of burlesque and musical theatre in the New York's East Village. She struggled for a couple of years, but she finally got the ball rolling around 2005, releasing her first album and writing songs for artists for example, Britney Spears, Fergie, and the Pussycat Dolls. The first album, "The Fame", was not exactly successful, but within five months of its release, the first single from the album, "Just Dance", was played everywhere. It was clear that her relentless touring throughout Europe as well as smaller clubs across America had paid off. Multiple songs from the album were frequently played on radio stations by 2009 and she had received multiple Grammy nominations. She also won two Grammy Awards for her perseverance and commitment to work. She continues to create excellent music and was the subject of headlines since the time she released her album. Her appearances at awards shows are coveted because she is a vocal social activist and natural exhibitionist.
